From Code to Conscience: Is AI Reshaping Moral Minds?
As our contribution to our lived community, we have convened a public panel debate on AI and its role in education and the upbringing of children. Convened by Clinical AI Partners for parents, teachers, in the Headington community.
A priest, a philosopher, an educator, a mathematician and a psychiatrist take the same question from five very different vantage points: what remains uniquely human, what boundaries should parents set, and is AI helping to educate or causing harm?
In person (St Anthony of Padua Hall) or online; wine and nibbles provided.

Tuesday 8 December 2026 · University of Oxford
Regulation of AI — MSc in Translational Health Sciences
Formal teaching on the Health Economics and Regulation module of the MSc in Translational Health Sciences (Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences), delivered in person during the intensive Oxford week.
Delivered by CAIP founder Dr Coates as a double act with Marcus Vass (Osborne Clarke), building on their shared work at the intersection of healthcare AI and regulation: what the UK and EU frameworks actually require of a clinical AI product, and where the gaps sit.

Wednesday 25 November 2026 · University of Oxford
From Manchester to Mogadishu — MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine
Building, bias-testing and monitoring a healthcare AI tool. A two-hour hands-on session for the MSc IHTM cohort at the Nuffield Department of Medicine: future global-health leaders who will commission, govern and challenge AI tools, mapped to the course’s AI curriculum from policy and governance through design to evaluation.
Delivered by CAIP founder Dr Coates, co-taught with Reshania Naidoo (Accenture). Participants design and train a Health Equity Specialist model, then run a quantitative bias audit by region and rurality and debate the governance implications.

Thursday 5 November 2026 · Kings Place, London
Keynote — Wolters Kluwer Health Information Experience Day
Marginalia: Authenticating Human Fingerprints in an Age of Machine-Made Knowledge. The opening keynote at Wolters Kluwer’s “Trusted Knowledge in an AI World” day for medical publishers, librarians and health-information professionals.
Delivered by CAIP founder Dr Coates: why trust in medical evidence is now conferred by human provenance rather than format, the scale of citation fabrication reaching the bedside, and the librarian as the human in the loop. Readiness that is measured, not self-declared.

Thursday 29 October 2026 · The Brewery, London
Panel — BMJ Future Health Europe 2026
Innovation without infrastructure: digital health lessons from low-resource settings. A BMJ Future Health panel on what the NHS can learn from health systems that have leapfrogged legacy technology.
Delivered by CAIP founder Dr Coates, drawing on CAIP’s work with the University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda and the Global Health Network in Oxford.

Ambient Voice Is Just the Beginning: What Comes Next for Clinicians?
The Cambridge Medical Graduates’ Society HealthTech panel, live-streamed to the alumni network, on what ambient voice and the next generation of AI tools mean for clinical practice in 2031.
Delivered by CAIP founder Dr Coates alongside Katie Baker (Tandem Health), Prof Niels Peek (THIS Institute, University of Cambridge) and Michelle Tempest (Candesic), on the frontline lens: professional judgement, deskilling, and what must remain a human responsibility.

Monday 24 August 2026 · St Hilda’s College, Oxford
From Manchester to Mogadishu — SASHI 2026 Clinical AI MicroHack
A hackathon built inside a conference: 90 minutes at the Oxford University Summer Academy for the Social Science of Health Innovation (Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences), in which social scientists with no coding experience trained a 171-parameter health-equity model on World Bank data and then audited where it failed.
CAIP team Dr Coates and Ms Dogar delivered the session: clinical AI as a sociotechnical pipeline, every joint of which can be audited, and the fairness assessment that names the populations a model quietly fails.

Thursday 6 August 2026 · Nuffield Department of Medicine, Oxford
AI and Data Sovereignty in Global Health Research — NDM × CAIP seminar
A seminar for the Nuffield Department of Medicine on data as a strategic AI prerequisite: the missing-context problem behind algorithmic bias, moving from data sharing to model sharing, and building native public infrastructure rather than vendor lock-in.
Delivered by CAIP founder Dr Coates, with case studies from Rwanda’s One Health framework and Kazakhstan’s State Biological Information System, and a frank assessment of which data-sovereignty frameworks work and which do not.

July 2026 · Kigali and Butaro, Rwanda
Clinical AI Safety & Fluency — CAIP × University of Global Health Equity
Four days of seminars for the faculty and operations teams of the University of Global Health Equity, the institution Partners In Health built on Dr Paul Farmer’s conviction that world-class care and education belong everywhere.
Delivered by CAIP founder Dr Coates as facilitator: inside the black box, explainability and oversight, responsible LLM use, data governance, bias and equity, and data sovereignty. Readiness was measured before and after, not self-declared. CAIP returns to Butaro in January 2027 for the Global Health AI Hackathon.

June 2026 · London
Keynote — Health + AI Tech Show (Health AI Insiders)
AI-Ready Workforce — From Knowing to Doing in the NHS: lessons from the Oxford Clinical AI Hackathon. Why AI is outpacing workforce capability, why most NHS AI pilots fail to scale, and how clinicians with no coding background were trained to build, test and interrogate clinical AI in 48 hours.
Delivered by CAIP founder Dr Coates. AI doesn’t fail in hospitals; systems without capability do.

6–8 April 2026 · Jesus College, Oxford
Oxford Clinical AI Hackathon — Spring 2026
Sixty working clinicians, researchers and scientists from four continents came to Oxford to learn, build and present functioning clinical AI systems in 48 hours, on an outcomes-mapped curriculum with the Oxford University AI Competency Centre as academic partner and OpenAI as headline sponsor.
Delivered by the CAIP team, led by founder Dr Coates, with challenge partners including Google DeepMind, Johnson & Johnson, GE Healthcare, HSBC, Oxford Nanopore and Qiagen. Participants with no prior technical training fine-tuned language models, built RAG pipelines and shipped model cards. The hackathon runs again in December 2026.

Sunday 29 March 2026 · Voice of Islam Radio
AI Innovation and the New Health Divide — Weekend World Show
A two-hour live broadcast with Dr Afzal Ashraf on whether AI will narrow or widen health inequality: where bias enters the pipeline, the two-speed NHS, and why policymakers must fund implementation, not just innovation.
CAIP team Dr Coates and Ms Dogar were the studio guests, bringing CAIP’s own survey data on shadow AI use in the NHS and the finding that only one in 394 NHS job adverts mentioned AI.

March 2026 · Oxford
Clinical Informatics Summer School
CAIP founder Dr Coates joined an international faculty at the Clinical Informatics Summer School in Oxford, bringing the NHS clinician’s view of AI safety and fluency to a programme spanning health informatics in the UK and Africa.
